Covid-19 Information

Advice from Tourism New Zealand's website

With COVID-19 case numbers falling, a highly vaccinated population, and increased access to antiviral medicines to treat COVID-19, New Zealand has removed most COVID-19 restrictions. It is still recommended to practice healthy habits when travelling around New Zealand.

We strongly suggest that you take accommodation insurance in case your travel plans are disrupted by Covid-19 or any other cause. Please see our website under bookings to take this insurance.

Practice healthy habits

  • While travelling around New Zealand, you should try to physically distance yourself in airports or busy transport hubs.
  • Wearing a face mask is no longer required, although masks are still encouraged in some places such as hospitals.

What to do if you develop symptoms

  • Get a test
  • Find a COVID-19 testing centre in your current location
  • Order a rapid antigen tests (RATs) home testing kit

If you return a positive result, isolate for seven days. Please talk to us should you test positive for Covid-19 while staying with us or if you contract Covid-19 before you arrive.

That also means that if as your hosts, we contract COVID we will need to isolate as well. If that happens we will obviously let you know, do what we can to help you find alternate accommodation, and offer either a full refund or the option of booking for a later date. We take all precautions that we can to avoid contracting COVID but also cannot accept any liability that might result from any travel disruption you might experience.

At Ranginui Retreat we meet all NZ government recommendations for safety policies in place to minimise the spread of Covid-19, including thorough cleaning after each stay. As owners, we are complying with all mandates and we are fully vaccinated, with booster shots.

These requirements may change as further announcements by the New Zealand Government are made and we know this may create some frustration. Like you, we do not create the rules, but we need to follow the rules.

If you have any questions about our Covid-19 policy, please contact us.
