Cafes & Restaurants

The Wairarapa has an amazing variety of cafes and restaurants, whether they are in the rural towns of Featherston, Greytown, Carterton or Masterton; part of an iconic vineyard experience, pubs on and off the beaten track; or artisan bakeries and bistros.

Just 5 minutes down the road is Wingate Lane, open Wednesday to Sunday for casual dining. The cafe / restaurant overlooks the winery on the premises and the stunning Tararua Ranges providing the perfect setting for all occasions. Enjoy their tasty menu and delicious local wines.

Ranginui Retreat is only 10 minutes from Masterton, the largest town in the Wairarapa and one that has several great places to dine. Our favourites are:

The Screening Room Cinema & Eatery in Masterton has renowned chef Travis cooking up his famous tapas and some larger meals with an ultra-modern boutique cinema attached, enabling coffee or a glass of wine to be sipped as you watch the movie of your choice.

Entice Cafe – - offers delicious cafe fare over the road from Queen Elizabeth Park and next door to Aratoi Museum of Art & History making it the perfect place to visit for a refreshment following a visit to Aratoi or a stroll around Queen Elizabeth Park.

Ten O'clock Cookie Bakery Café in Masterton . This award-winning family bakery has amazing cakes and pastries!

Don Luciano cafe - . The menu is Central American-inspired, with Kiwi food options to cater to all. The Gracias Coffee Roastery is housed within Don Luciano to offer beautiful coffee’s, delicious food, and exceptional service, with vegan, vegetarian, keto-friendly and gluten free options

Venturing to Carterton don’t forget to visit Finom . Balancing savoury and sweet, Finom Kitchen pairs flavoursome seasonal vegetarian fare alongside exquisite European-inspired cakes and confections.

Or go to Greytown then the French Baker , The Offering , or The White Swan are great to visit for lunch or a snack.
